Russia launched 160 drones across Ukraine in overnight attacks, as well as one drone-launched cruise missile, according to Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Meanwhile, Ukraine reportedly struck the Russian oil refinery in Saratov.

A drone attack in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district left eight people injured after one nine-storey residential building caught fire, leading to its evacuation, according to police. The injured include a 64-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman who were being treated for burn wounds, as well as a 23-year-old woman with shrapnel wounds, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a young mother and her 10-year-old son were injured in a large-scale Russian attack on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukrainian officials.

Other cities such as Dnipro and Odesa were also targeted in attacks Thursday and overnight into Friday. Russian attacks have increasingly focused on logistic hubs, warehouses and critical infrastructure. Dnipro saw three separate attacks on Thursday, with food warehouses in which people were killed and five were injured. Meanwhile, one Odesa official reported an attack on infrastructure.

Another deadly Russian attack on Thursday evening took one person’s life and injured two others after drone attacks on the region of Kyiv, damaging “seventeen sites in the Bucha, Fastiv and Obukhiv districts,” Kyiv official Tymur Tkachenko reported.

At least five people have been killed and 67 were injured, including children, in a Russian strike on a shopping mall in the industrial city of Pavlohrad in southeastern Ukraine.

According to Oleksandr Hanzha, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, the attacks “destroyed shops, retail units and vehicles here. Part of the street in the city centre has been effectively destroyed. A total of 90% of the damaged facilities are commercial.” Hanzha added that children between the ages of four and 17 were “receiving medical treatment.”

Russia also injured 23 people including a child after dropping six aerial bombs on residential areas on the city of Kramatorsk, close to the frontline, according to Ukraine’s emergency services.

Ukraine strikes Saratov oil refinery

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck the Russian oil refinery of Saratov, as well as one attack leading to a fire at Russian e-commerce company Ozon’s logistics centre. Saratov Oblast Governor Roman Busargin reported a drone threat in the area. Later, Ozon’s press service reported drone attacks and a fire at its logistics hub.

Russia and Ukraine continue to target each other’s energy-related facilities ahead of the winter. While Russia has focused on Ukraine’s electricity and energy, Ukraine has mainly targeted Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure.
