President Trump Calls Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 2026 Halftime Show ‘Disgusting’ After Claiming He Wouldn’t Watch

President Donald Trump has weighed in on Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl halftime show performance.

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” Trump, 71, posted on Truth Social just minutes after the show concluded. “It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

He continued, “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

Bad Bunny, 31, took the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, putting on a concert for fans at the midway point of the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

Conservatives have been openly critical of Bad Bunny’s involvement in Super Bowl LX since the NFL announced his headliner gig in September 2025, slamming the artist’s primarily Spanish lyrics and his public opposition to the Trump administration.

In October 2025, Trump, 79, expressed his disappointment over the selection of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl halftime show.

“I’ve never heard of him,” he claimed during a phone interview with Newsmax at the time. “I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy.”

He added, “I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

In January, Trump revealed his plans to boycott the Super Bowl due to the inclusion of Bad Bunny and Green Day, who have also publicly criticized the president during his time in office.

“I’m anti-them,” Trump told the New York Post. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”

Trump also alleged that the Super Bowl’s location in California was “just too far away” for him.

One week before the big game, Bad Bunny made headlines for speaking out against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the 2026 Grammy Awards.

“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans,” he said during his acceptance speech for Best Música Urbana Album. “I want to say to people, I know it’s tough not to hate in these days, and I was thinking we get contaminados [contaminated].”

He continued, “The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people, we love our family and that’s the way to do it. With love. Don’t forget that, please.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell later teased whether the Puerto Rican singer would get political at the Super Bowl.

“Bad Bunny, I think that was demonstrated last night, is one of the great artists in the world, and that’s one of the reasons we chose him,” Goodell, 66, told reporters during a Monday, February 2, press conference, referring to Bad Bunny’s three Grammy wins the day prior.

“But the other reason is he understood the platform he was on,” he added. “This platform is to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents, and to be able to use this moment to do that. I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that and I think he’ll have a great performance.”
