Rita Wilson is showing off her surprising body ink.
On Saturday, September 19, the actress and singer shared a topless photo via Instagram, revealing a large cross tattooed on her back.
The artwork resembles her son Chet Hanks’ own tattoo of a cross emblazoned across his back.
“STRANGER WITH AGE? Who? Me? I’m lovin’ it! Who else is stranger with age? STRANGER WITH AGE song is out everywhere,” Wilson, 69, captioned the post, referring to her new single.
Wilson shares sons Chet, 36, and Truman, 30, with husband Tom Hanks. (Hanks is also dad to actor Colin, 48, and writer Elizabeth, 44, from his first marriage to late ex-wife Samantha Lewes.)
Wilson and Hanks got married in 1988 and have been going strong ever since.
Earlier this year, Wilson recalled her 2015 battle with breast cancer and the two things she asked her husband in the event that she didn’t survive.
“I said to Tom, I’m like, ‘OK, if something happens and I go first, I just have two requests,’” the actress said during the Sound of a Woman: Rita Wilson in Conversation with Demi Moore event at New York City’s 92nd Street Y in April.
Wilson said her first request for the Oscar winner was that he “should be sad for a very, very long time.”
“The second one was, throw me a party,” she shared. “I want it to be a celebration of life. I want it to be about people telling stories and joy and remembering me in that way. And I think people, a lot of people want that, you know? I think there’s room for that.”
The Jingle All the Way actress celebrated 10 years of being cancer-free in March 2025.
“I am so deeply grateful,” she said in an Instagram video at the time. “I’m so thankful to my doctors. To my friends, to my family. The gratitude is overwhelming. Didn’t always feel this way. And you know that, anybody who’s going through [it, or] who’s survived knows that it’s an up and down, like, hamster wheel. But then you get to this point.”
Wilson first shared her breast cancer diagnosis in April 2015.
“Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma,” Wilson said in a statement to Us at the time. “I am recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery. Why? Because I caught this early, have excellent doctors and because I got a second opinion.”
