Spencer Pratt puts forth 5-step plan to help ‘heavenly’ animals in LA: ‘Dog is just God backwards’

Spencer Pratt has a plan to treat the “heavenly” animals forgotten on the streets of Los Angeles with reverence if voters name him the city’s next mayor.

Pratt released a nearly 10-minute video Saturday of his five-step plan to combat animal abuse.

“There’s a reason ‘Dog” is just ‘God’, backwards; they share an unconditional love for mankind,” he wrote on X. “Both Nithya and Karen Bass ignore these poor animals being killed on Skid Row and in their city shelters. They don’t care. I will put an end to this horror. VOTE to save these animals.”

The registered Republican says he will task the Los Angeles Police Department with creating a PAWS (Protecting Animal Welfare and Safety) task force to enforce animal abuse laws in places like Skid Row.

Animal abuse in Skid Row is widespread, according to multiple reports, with allegations of dogs being used to test drugs for fentanyl or being sold for drugs among a myriad of nightmarish outcomes.

Pratt says there will be harsh punishments for anyone caught abusing animals.

“Anyone caught abusing animals is going to prison,” he said. “I will have zero tolerance for animal abuse in our city.”

The mayoral candidate says he will support volunteers like animal advocate Joey Tuccio, along with spay and neuter initiatives.

“They have been doing God’s work along with countless volunteers who have been silenced, harassed, and bullied for decades, and it’s time they are heard and respected,” he says, before accusing incumbent Mayor Karen Bass of paying “cronies” to pretend the crisis isn’t happening.

Then Pratt says he will fix the shelters. He says the animal facilities treat dogs “worse than serial killers on death row.”

“We will completely overhaul the city shelter system,” he said. “We will hire a director of LAAS who puts animals first and maintains a budget for proper food and medical care.”

Pratt’s final step to his plan aims to find animals’ homes. He hopes to emulate programs from other cities that pair abused dogs with prison inmates to boost the dogs’ hopes.

“In these programs, the dogs get a caring human whose entire day revolves around loving, training, and caring for them. Those criminals find a sense of renewed purpose in caring for their animals,” he said.

And in his closing monologue, Pratt emphasizes the importance of dogs to Angelenos.

“Dogs are not property,” he said. “They are not disposable. They are truly a gift from God and we must cherish that gift and share it freely. If we work together, we can not only lift these heavenly creatures out of their misery in this city, but we can lift ourselves too. The City of Angels is a city of dogs.”

Animal welfare is one of several issues Pratt has championed in his campaign. Other top issues for Pratt include his advocacy for Palisades fire victims and his hope to clean up LA’s streets.

A recent California Post-McLaughlin Associates poll placed Pratt first in the field with 30.1% support compared with 29.5% for Bass and 23.4% for socialist councilwoman Nithya Raman.

The mayoral primary will take place on Tuesday next week.
