The ‘Brady Bunch’ house is opening for tours, here’s when you can step inside

The “Brady Bunch” home will soon be open for summer tours in Los Angeles after being officially recognized as part of history.

In March, the Los Angeles City Council voted to grant Historic-Cultural Monument status to the iconic home of the Bradys, cementing the famous TV home into the city’s history books after a vote held before a packed chamber at City Hall.

Despite only the home’s exterior being part of the iconic TV show of the 70’s, visitors will soon be able to stop by the modest mid-century split-level ranch house at 11222 West Dilling Street in Studio City, for tours on a limited basis.

The rooms of the home were rebuilt by HGTV in 2018 to look just like the sets of the Brady family that viewers got to experience through their television sets.

“You can now book a semi-private, self-guided visit into the most iconic home in TV history,” according to TheBradyExperience website, where they encourage people to sign up on the waitlist before bookings open to the public.

“Fans will be fully immersed during a walkthrough visit that brings the beloved home to life – with immaculate details and unforgettable rooms, and all the nostalgic charm you’ve dreamed of!” a description read.

Some of the things fans can expect to see and experience include stepping into the kids’ shared spaces — complete with era-accurate décor and fun interactive moments, along with pulling up a stool in the bright orange-and-green kitchen.

The tour also promises lots of opportunities for fans to snap pictures and pose as their  favorite character, recreating iconic scenes, and capture Instagram-worthy shots throughout from the beloved sitcom that ran from 1969 to 1974.

In March, the home became part of Los Angeles’ list of protected historic landmarks.

Before approving the designation, council members determined the move was categorically exempt from environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act, clearing the way for recognition under Class 8 and Class 31 exemptions.

Christopher Knight, who played Peter Brady on the show, is fully behind the decision.

“I’m delighted to hear the Brady House has been designated a historic and cultural landmark by the City of Los Angeles. Through a television creation, the Brady Bunch has manifested the American family to multiple generations and to the world,” he recently told The California Post.

“The Brady House has been for Brady fans, the very place where happy and safe remembrances of childhood emanated. This designation recognizes both the cultural significance of the Bradys as a functional family archetype and Hollywood’s magical ability in bridging fantasy and reality.”

For current owner Tina Trahan, the vote was the final scene in a two-year effort to make sure one of television’s most recognizable homes stays exactly the way generations of fans remember it.

The house itself is a 5,000-plus-square-foot property with five bedrooms, originally built in 1959 in a quiet San Fernando Valley neighborhood.
