“Harking back to the four-in-hand carriage drivers’ competition thread (C8) and (sort-of) defending Prince Philip, a brief internet search reveals that not only did he play a leading role in creating this competition, but that he actively assisted in writing the rules (including penalties for swearing. Ironically, he was frequently penalised),” writes Shirley Cook of Armidale. “He and other horse-loving royals did participate in the grooming, feeding and general care of their much-loved horses. At times, it was difficult to pick the prince from the groomsmen. Notably, there were two of the prince’s favourite carriage horses, plus an empty carriage, in his funeral procession.”
“Karin Viles (C8), before any fellow readers pun me out of town, know this,” declares Mike Fogarty of Weston (ACT). “Spaghetti bolognaise, lasagne and pizza supplement our national diet. The absence of these magnificent three staples, from any cafe menu or home kitchen, is long pasta joke.”

Responding to George Manojlovic’s ponderings, Wendy Crew of Lane Cove North thinks it “surprising about Trump’s renaming of parts of the world (C8) that he doesn’t include ‘Trump’ in the new title, eg: Trump’s Gulf, Lake Trump. Or maybe he’s heading towards re-naming ‘America’ to ‘Trumpland’.” Caz Willis of Bowral adds: “Hey George, does this mean that our land downunder, will be known as UStralia? Nightmares ahead!”
