A woman accused of running over a man while stealing his car will face court on Saturday, after a dramatic arrest where police officers were allegedly forced to jump out of the way of a moving car while conducting a search warrant.

The 51-year-old woman was one of three arrested at Narvick Crescent, Heidelberg West on Friday, almost a week after an incident in nearby Blackwood Parade that left a 68-year-old man fighting for life.

Earlier this week, police urged a woman to hand herself in after she allegedly ran over a man who was trying to stop her from stealing his car in Heidelberg West.Victoria Police

In Friday’s incident, officers were conducting a search warrant at Narvick Crescent, when a vehicle parked in the driveway allegedly drove at them, forcing them to jump out of its path.

“The vehicle lost control, crashing into a wall before allegedly ramming an unmarked police vehicle,” police said in a statement on Friday night.

“The stolen ute then subsequently crashed into a tree where the occupants, a 42-year-old man and 15-year-old girl, both from Heidelberg West, were arrested. Detectives executed a search warrant at the Narvick Crescent property, also arresting a 51-year-old Heidelberg West woman without incident.”

In the statement, police confirmed the 51-year-old woman was being held overnight before facing charges of dangerous driving causing serious injury, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, failing to render assistance and unlicensed driving.

The dangerous driving charge relates to the incident on Blackwood Parade on Saturday night, where a 68-year-old man was hit by his own vehicle – a Honda CRV – as he attempted to stop a woman from driving away with it.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital confirmed on Friday that he remains in a critical condition.

Police say they found the CRV on nearby Tobruk Avenue on Friday.

The 42-year-old man will appear in court on Monday on various charges related to Friday’s incident, including putting police officers at risk.
