Walmart and Sam’s Club are slashing prices on hundreds of the most popular grocery items this summer

Your next shopping trip to Walmart and Sam’s Club may be a bit cheaper.

The sister chains have just announced lower prices on a slew of summer essentials. The move is aimed at helping customers and members stress a bit less this season.

“This summer, we’re making even more investments in price, with thousands of Rollbacks across the products customers are shopping for most, including beef, fresh produce and beverages, grills, pools, toys and summer fashion apparel,” said Julie Barber, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchant, Walmart US.

For Sam’s Club members, prices on over 250 items will have lower stickers. The warehouse giant slashed costs on road trip snacks, grilling essentials and summer entertaining favorites to name a few.

The Costco rival hacked the price of Member’s Mark Bone-In Chicken Wings to $2 per pound — originally $2.88. The Member’s Mark Beef Hot Dogs is now $10.86 no longer $12.96.

Additionally, the Member’s Mark 88/12 Ground Beef dropped by a dollar to just $5.97 a pound while the Member’s Mark Whole Bone-In Pork Back Ribs was brought down to $3.18 a pound — originally $3.48 a pound.

Shoppers will see price drops on the classic summer foods including ground beef, corn, potato chips and soda. Walmart revealed the following price tag changes:

  • One pound of 73% Ground Beef Roll is now $5.94, was $6.74
  • Fresh Sweet Corn on the Cob 25 cents each, was 68 cents
  • Fresh Red Cherries 2.25 pound bag is $5.63, was $11.18
  • Great Value Ice Cream 48 fluid ounces is now $2.50, was $2.97
  • Lay’s Classic Potato Chips eight-ounce bag is $2.50, was $2.97
  • Frito-Lay Family Fun Variety Pack, 18-count is $8.97, was $9.97
  • Great Value Disposable Paper Plates, 200-count is $8.97, was $9.97
  • Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar 24-pack is $9.97, was $14.97
  • Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew 24-pack is $9.97, was $13.97

The cuts are not new to Walmart as the chain is known for tons of rollbacks. Earlier this year, the savings behemoth launched price cuts on 7,200 items after a trove of temporary drops after the tariff refunds were announced.

Nearly half of the cuts were to food prices Walmart CFO John David Rainey told Yahoo Finance.

“We are taking advantage of the [tariff] refund process,” Rainey said. “We hope to see those come in more through the quarter. It’s not currently included in any of our guidance because the timing and amount of that is uncertain.”

Other retailers have also slashed prices on essentials. Dollar General CEO, Todd Vasos, announced in an earnings call that shoppers pinching pennies will now spot over 2,000 items across stores at or even below $1.

The discount chain’s frozen section has an entire door dedicated to new foods for just $1, dubbed Value Valley. The valley also includes a rotating assortment of items that regularly hold more than 500 products.

Back in May, Kroger did something similar. One of the country’s largest grocers proposed cutting prices on thousands of items, marking its largest strategic shift in years.

Kroger CEO Greg Foran revealed to Bloomberg it would test price cuts before rolling them out across stores as the “basket has to come down.”
