It’s that time of the month — the time when streamers clean out their content libraries to make room for new titles.
Prime Video is one of them, and it’s getting rid of tons of movies from the distant past to 2026.
With only days left to stream them, Watch With Us has curated a list of three great Prime Video movies you need to watch before they leave next week.
With stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt and more, these films are the perfect way to say goodbye to August and hello to September.
‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’ (2023)
There are some movies you just want to hug, and Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is one of them. Adapted from the seminal 1970 Judy Blume book of the same name, the film stars Abby Ryder Fortson as 11-year-old Margaret Simon, who is going through some big changes in her life. Her family moves from New York City to New Jersey, which causes her to have to make a whole new set of friends. More alarmingly, her body is changing in ways that make her feel slightly confused, a bit horrified and kinda curious. With the help of her beloved grandmother Sylvia (Kathy Bates) and a certain omnipresent deity who listens to all of her many, many questions, Margaret just might survive puberty — and the terror of buying her first training bra.
Set in the 1970s, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret evokes a distant time and place where information about, well, everything, was less accessible, leaving most kids to figure out stuff for themselves. Margaret’s journey through puberty is comedic without being mean; the film never laughs at her. Rachel McAdams gives her best performance ever as Margaret’s mom Barbara, who is still dealing with her parental issues while doing her best to raise her daughter. Even though it deals with difficult themes, the whole film feels like a warm ray of sunshine that will put a stupid smile on your face after it’s over.
‘Kalifornia’ (1993)
Long-time couple Brian (David Duchovny) and Carrie (Michelle Forbes) plan a road trip from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles, their new home, but post a rideshare ad to raise extra funds. Brian picks up another couple, Early (Pitt) and Adele (Juliette Lewis), even though Carrie is put off by Adele’s childlike demeanor and Early’s rough appearance. Carrie is right to be suspicious — Early is a criminal with a violent streak who is on the run from the law. With Brian too fascinated by him to sense any immediate danger, it’s up to Carrie to convince her boyfriend they could be Early’s next victims.
Released when Brad Pitt’s star was just ascending, Kalifornia showcased the golden boy actor in a different, grungier light. His Early is a hick with an IQ well below 100 but with a temper that could blow at any moment. He’s genuinely dangerous, which is what makes the film so damn tense to watch. It’s also one of the best thrillers of the ‘90s, with critic Roger Ebert awarding the film four stars in his review. Ebert singled out Pitt and Lewis, asserting the then-couple gave “two of the most harrowing and convincing performances I’ve ever seen.” I agree, and you will too if you catch Kalifornia before it leaves Prime Video in a few days.
‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ (2013)
In the 1987 film Wall Street, Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) famously proclaimed that “Greed is good.” For Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), greed is great, and the only reason he gets up in the morning. Jordan is a young hotshot Wall Street trader who bends the law — and his morality — to make lots of money very quickly. While he eventually gets what he wants, including a luxe New Jersey mansion and a trophy wife, Naomi (Margot Robbie), his life of excess catches up with him — and so does the FBI, who don’t really like all that breaking the law stuff. Nicknamed “the Wolf of Wall Street,” Jordan soon learns he’s an endangered species whose time is running out.
Funny and maddening, The Wolf of Wall Street is a profanity-laden trip back to the go-go ‘80s, when the term “trickle-down economics” made people like Jordan hard. It’s no stuffy period piece, though; director Martin Scorsese subtly argues that men like Jordan don’t just go away, but evolve over time. In his funniest role ever, DiCaprio shows a gift for physical comedy, and the sequence where Jordan tries to walk and drive a car while high on quaaludes is an all-timer.
