What each zodiac sign needs to release during 2026 Mercury retrograde in Pisces

The first Mercury retrograde of this year is upon us.

Running and in some cases ruining the game from February 26 to March 20, this retrograde is going down in the confusing, glitter-clogged, deception-prone, emo storm drain of Pisces.

“Pisces is linked to deep emotions, the subconscious, intuition, and the stories we tell ourselves — both inspiring and misleading,” Polina Arutiunian, an astrologer and spiritual advisor at Nebula, told The Post.

Mercury is both in detriment and in fall in the sign of Pisces, meaning our planet of the mind and the mouth really struggles to process and express itself clearly or linearly. It will clear its post-retrograde shadow on April 9th.

Mercury retrograde 2026

On the upswing, and as the last sign in the zodiac, Pisces is synonymous with both healing and release, suggesting that if we’re ready to let go, we can go far during these trying times.

“Since Mercury retrograde is a time for rethinking and revisiting the past, let’s look at what each zodiac sign may be asked to let go of during this period,” shared Arutiunian.

As this retrograde hits Aries in the twelfth house of personal haunting, Arutiunian notes that Rams are at long last, ready to release the past.

“Some old dreams may reveal themselves as illusions — or unrealistic expectations — and Mercury retrograde can highlight that. It’s a powerful time to let go of fears, unhealthy habits, and emotional attachments that keep you stuck,” she said.

For team Taurus, Mercury retrograde in Pisces highlights their eleventh house of friends and ideals, and disentanglement and forgiveness are at the forefront.

“Mercury retrograde may push you to rethink something connected to teamwork, community, or friendships. You may be ready to step back from groups that don’t truly support you — or that drain you. This is also a good time to release lingering resentment or disappointment tied to friendships,” she said

For Gemini folks, this retrograde hits their tenth house of vocation and legacy.

“It’s time to review what’s no longer working in your career. You may feel ready to move on from a job with no growth and make room for new opportunities. You can also release responsibilities that no longer belong to you,” Arutiunian explained.

The Cancer contingent will feel this retrograde in their ninth house of faith and philosophy.

“This Mercury retrograde brings your beliefs and values into focus. Ask yourself what you’re still carrying — and which mindsets it’s time to release. It’s also a supportive time to let go of emotions tied to learning, education, or relationships with teachers, mentors, or role models,” said Arutiunian.

Leo folks have an ordained opportunity for deep transformation as Mercury moves through their eighth house of sex, death, and other people’s resources.

“Use this time to bring to the surface old fears, trauma, or patterns that have been holding you back — especially around finances and relationships. This is your chance to release what’s heavy so you can make clearer, more empowered decisions,” Arutiunian suggested.

Virgos will feel the tidal pull of release and resolution in their seventh house of trusted partnership.

“For you, Virgo, this is a time to work on how you relate to the people around you,” said Arutiunian.

“You may feel ready to step back from someone in your circle, move on from a relationship that’s hit a standstill, or finally release attachment to past partners. It’s also a great time to drop toxic comparison and create distance from people who consistently trigger insecurity.”

For Libra, Mercury retrograde in Pisces is tied to their sixth house of ritual, routine, and bodily health.

“Mercury retrograde can support you in breaking harmful daily habits and resetting unhealthy routines,” said Arutiunian.

“If that’s your goal, this is a strong period to take practical steps in that direction. It’s also a good time to address health concerns you’ve been putting off — especially by revisiting what hasn’t been working and choosing a new approach.”

Mercury retrograde in a fellow water sign hits Scorpio in their fifth house of creation, love affairs, and the inner child.

“This period may highlight the need to release casual connections that can’t offer the stability you want. It’s also a helpful time to step away from hobbies or creative projects that no longer bring you joy and have run their course,” said Arutiunian.

Archers will feel the call to let go around themes connected to the fourth house of origins and root systems.

“Mercury retrograde may highlight what you’re ready to release around family dynamics, Sagittarius — especially relationships with parents and loved ones,” said Arutiunian.

“It’s a powerful time to work through beliefs or fears that come from your upbringing and hold you down/back. You may also feel ready to let go of travel or relocation plans that no longer fit and now feel more like an obligation than a true desire.”

“For you, this period emphasizes clearing out small distractions that clutter your daily life and pull focus from what matters, Capricorn,” said Arutiunian.

She shared that the release could be expressed in both tangible and intangible ways for sea goats.

“Unsubscribe from unnecessary information, chats, and subscriptions. Release courses, books, or materials you know you won’t use. And don’t keep things ‘just in case’ out of duty or guilt.”

For Aquarius, this retrograde shines a light on their second house of wealth and worth, including but not limited to material goods.

“This period highlights your finances, income, and resources. So it’s an excellent time to declutter and let go of material items that create visual clutter. You can also let go of old money habits, fears, or unhealthy patterns,” said Arutiunian.

Ahoy, Pisces! This retrograde is going down and back in your sign and in your first house of the self.

“This period gives you a chance to refresh how you see yourself and rethink any appearance changes you’ve been considering,” advised Arutiunian.

“Let go of beauty standards or ideas that no longer bring you joy. Release fears or fixations around your body or appearance, and choose what helps you feel more at ease in your own skin.”

Next Mercury retrograde

After this cycle, Mercury will go retrograde in the sign of Cancer on June 29.
