What you need to know about Paris’ new airport express train

Getting to the City of Love from Paris Charles de Gaulle is about to get quicker thanks to the launch of an express train.

Dubbed the CDG Express, the new line connecting one of Europe’s busiest airports to Gare du l’Est in the 10th arrondissement will begin welcoming passengers from 28 March 2027.

Departing from CDG Airport every 15 minutes, the train takes just 20 minutes to reach central Paris, and will run from 5am to midnight seven days a week.

The price for the express line has not been set, but children under 16 travelling with their families will be able to ride for free. There will also be a discount of between 30% and 40% for residents of the Île-de-France region that have a Navigo card.

Currently, passengers connecting to the city by rail can use the RER B, a commuter line that first opened in 1977, which takes 34 minutes to reach Gare du Nord.

The price for a single journey from central Paris to Charles de Gaulle Airport currently stands at €11.80.

More transport changes in Paris

Île-de-France Mobilités, the transport authority for the region, is also working on a new pedestrian tunnel connecting Paris’ Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. Every day, around 800,000 passengers pass through the two stations, which are just 500 metres apart.

Work is expected to be complete on the new underground link in spring 2027, timed with the launch of the CDG Express.

Paris is also set to open a new metro line, number 17, that will connect Saint-Denis to Mesnil-Amelot via Charles de Gaulle Airport in the coming years.

The first section, between Saint-Denis and the airport, is due to be finished in mid-2027. The part between the airport and Parc des Expositions will follow in 2028, with the full line complete by 2030.
