How to wear a scarf stylishly?
Being a follower of cold-weather fashion can make you feel a bit like a Girl Guide or boy scout: so many new knots to consider when it comes to affixing your scarf. The Parisian knot is, undoubtedly, the simplest approach. Here, a long, narrow scarf is folded in half to create a loop and this loop is placed around the shoulders; you then pass the loose ends through the end of the loop at the front and tighten.
Another easy knot is the reverse drape tuck, where the scarf is draped around the shoulders with one end longer than the other. You take the long end and wrap it around the neck, tucking the end of it down into the space at the front between your neck and the fabric. You do the same with the shorter end on the other side and adjust so that the two ends are even at the front.
Or you can think outside the square – or long rectangle – and look for triangular knitted scarfs, sometimes referred to as bandana scarves. Superstar posse Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have all championed the trend. The advantage of these smaller scarves is that they fit more snugly around the neck and can be layered easily beneath shirts or jackets; they can even double as headwear in a brisk breeze or rain shower. In pops of colour or eye-catching prints, they offer a very cool contrast to black outerwear.
Another way is to just tie the ends underneath your chin, as the late Queen would do whenever she was off-duty at Sandringham or Balmoral. She was, after all, the ultimate headscarf influencer.
