Airline passengers rank the best food and drinks in economy — and the most hated snack some sneak onto planes

Ditch the high-stakes snack selection.

As the flight attendant pushes that cart down the aisle while you’re half-asleep, the pressure to choose the perfect snack and beverage is real.

The highly anticipated mid-air snack time is disappointing when the options are stale or unpalatable.

Luckily, frequent flyers who have logged countless trips 35,000 feet in the air have finally weighed in to settle the debate. Point.me, a travel reward and search platform, surveyed America’s most experienced travelers to rank the best in-flight food and drinks.

Overall, Delta dominates the snack game.

Delta Airlines took the crown for Best Airline Snacks, capturing 30% of the vote and ranking first across every age demographic. Passengers overall agreed that their selection of Cheez-Its, Biscoff cookies, Sun Chips Minis and MadeGood Granola Bars was unbeatable. Southwest Airlines and JetBlue followed in a tie for the runner-up spot.

Unfortunately for Southwest, more than 32% of point.me members said Southwest has the worst airline snacks, with its lineup of Stellar Pretzel Braids, Remy’s Grahams and OREO cookies.

Delta also swept the category for GLP-1 and high-protein-friendly options. With roughly one in eight Americans taking GLP-1 medications for weight or diabetes management, protein-heavy snacks have become a top priority for health-conscious flyers.

When it comes to your morning caffeine, Delta’s partnership with Starbucks won the overall title for best airline coffee. However, elite flyers who travel 10 or more times a year overwhelmingly prefer Alaska Airlines’ collaboration with Stumptown Coffee.

On the flip side, JetBlue’s Dunkin’ coffee earned the dubious last spot, ranked the worst in the sky.

Point.me CEO Adam Movitz boosted voters’ credibility, noting that more than half of those polled fly at least five times a year and two-thirds of voters have a 200,000-plus credit of airline points.

“They’re passionate about making the most of every trip, whether it’s accumulating points, booking award flights, or seeking travel experiences most people don’t know are possible,” he said in a statement.

For those sitting in the front of the plane, Emirates earned the top spot for business-class dining, including breakfast and its overall cocktail program featuring 18 premium options like the Aperol Spritz and Negroni.

If you’re looking for the best wine, Air France is undisputed. The airline won for best business-class wine selection (36.2%) and the heaviest pours (34.5%).

American Express Centurion Lounges were named the best airport lounge bars for those looking to start their vacation immediately.

And the survey confirmed what’s considered the most rancid snack and poor airplane etiquette: 40.6% of respondents voted tuna sandwiches as public enemy No. 1 to bring as an airplane snack. Hard-boiled eggs (22.3%) and messy liquids like soup (18.3%) followed.
