Everything Sports Reporter Erin Andrews Has Said About Motherhood Amid Fertility Journey

Erin Andrews has never shied away from sharing the difficult realities of her fertility journey — and at 47, she’s still fighting to grow her family.

During the April 14, 2026, episode of her “Calm Down With Erin and Charissa” podcast, Andrews shared an update on her latest attempt at IVF.

“I decided to inject HGH [Human Growth Hormone], Gonal-f [follitropin alfa], and Clomid [clomiphene] and try to do another IVF round, but whatever,” she said. “Well, it didn’t work. Here’s my whole thing. I am crazy and I am with a doctor that said, ‘Listen, we’ll call it when it’s time.’”

While Andrews acknowledged the odds are not in her favor, she refused to give up.

“I just feel like, I believe my body can do it,” she said at the time. “Even though I know that my age — with what history says — is not great with producing eggs and the viability of your eggs. There’s just some s*** in me that I’m like, ‘Watch me do it.’ It’s like a weird addiction I have.”

Keep scrolling for Andrews’ candid comments about motherhood and fertility:

A Journey That Spans More Than a Decade

Erin Andrews has been on a fertility journey for years. In a 2021 essay for Bulletin, she revealed she had been undergoing “time-consuming and emotionally draining” fertility treatments.

Andrews was previously diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016. She froze embryos before undergoing treatment and, after two surgeries, went into remission. After marrying Jarret Stoll in 2017, Andrews struggled to expand their family.

“It’s not easy. It’s been one of the most challenging things in my life, and I know in my husband’s life as well,” Andrews told Us Weekly exclusively in January 2023. “It’s just nothing to be embarrassed about, especially when so many people are going through it.”

Welcoming Mack

Erin Andrews and Jarret Stoll welcomed their son, Mack, via surrogate in July 2023 after years of fertility ups and downs. During the birth, the TV reporter said there was “a little bit of an emergency in the delivery room” when the surrogate dilated quickly that sparked concerns about the baby’s heartbeat.

“She pushed once and he came out,” Andrews told Today at the time. “I’m kissing [the surrogate’s] head, and Jarret is looking like he just won the Stanley Cup again. It’s the perfect picture of surrogacy.”

The Journey to Baby No. 2

In October 2024, Erin Andrews told E! News she was considering having a second child.

“We’re talking about trying it again,” she told the outlet. “I was really, really honest with my doctor a couple weeks ago. I just said, ‘We’ve had so much high with the birth of Mack and how great he’s doing that I don’t want to go back to that place of failure again, and I’m really, really afraid of it.’”

Andrews revealed on her podcast the next year that her surrogate had suffered a pregnancy loss.

“We got some real s***y news today that our surrogate had miscarried. So I have dealt with this before, but things were going really, really well,” she said in May 2025. “Been sitting here thinking about Taylor Swift‘s song, ‘I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.’ I’m really good at doing this s*** with a broken heart.”

She continued, “I think I kinda made a promise to myself that when I was really open with how s***ty infertility has been and our journey with two surrogates. … When I was first dealing with all these infertility issues and loss, I just wanted to let other people know that we’re dealing with them, that I get it and I understand. I’m going to do that again. This really, really sucks but so many people are dealing with it so if you feel alone and you feel like a failure, I do too. You’re not the only one.”

The Toll on Marriage and Finances

Erin Andrews has been candid about how the fertility journey affects every part of her life.

“You have to give each other a break. You have to have patience. It’s taxing on your financials as well, which also brings stress to your marriage. It’s not cheap. It’s awful,” she said on her podcast in April 2026, thanking Stoll for being a steady presence. “My husband was really, really great after we were going through more lows than highs, just being like, ‘This sucks. This just isn’t great. I feel really crappy, and I feel like a failure,’ and that really helped a lot too.”

Andrews also revealed that she gets PTSD whenever she calls her fertility doctor.

“It’s crazy, because once you get back on the phone with your fertility doctor and you start talking about the journey again, PTSD all comes back of how crappy you felt, how numb your body gets, just the fear of loss,” she said. “There’s nothing about the infertility journey that I would say is great, except your end product. When you are able to have the baby and you’re like, ‘Wow, you were worth it.’”

Dealing With Mom Guilt

Erin Andrews is a sports reporter who travels across the country for various pro games.

“I wanted to go home because I was having a lot of guilt, and I learned a lot about guilt this week,” she said on her podcast in February 2026. “I just felt bad because I have been on the road so much, and I feel like this is supposed to be my time with my child.”

Andrews added, “I spend a lot of time away from home. I have guilt about that, so I miss a lot of stuff. So that’s where I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll come home and we’ll have a nice night together.’”
