A student is fighting for life after being stabbed at the Islamic College of Brisbane.
The 17-year-old boy was stabbed about 11.47am on Tuesday at the school on Acacia Road at Karawatha – on the outskirts of Brisbane’s south, near Logan.
One person was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition, the Queensland Ambulance Service said.
Police believe an altercation occurred between two boys known to each other. A 16-year-old was assisting with inquiries.
Officers remained on the scene with paramedics just before 1.30pm. They said they were patrolling nearby streets.
The Islamic College of Brisbane opened in 1995, and teaches classes from prep to year 12.
It has more than 1700 students and 230 staff, according to its website.
The school attracted attention in July when Pauline Hanson visited, wearing an Israeli flag pin, with a TV crew.
The incident occurred almost exactly 24 hours after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the abdomen at a school at Manunda in Cairns.
That boy was transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition. Another 15-year-old was arrested after fleeing on foot.
