Jennifer Lopez is soaking up time with her twins before the next chapter of their lives.
In a Monday, August 3, Instagram post, Lopez, 57, shared a series of photos with her 18-year-old twins traveling throughout Italy. (Lopez shares her children with ex-husband Marc Anthony.)
In one image, Lopez placed a hand on her twins’ backs as she walked down the stairs with them, while another photo showed the family dining together.
“Road tripping with my coconuts before they head off to college 😭,” Lopez captioned the nostalgic images.
In the months leading up to her kids’ departure to college, Lopez has been candid about her emotions.
“Tomorrow, one of them graduates. Don’t talk about it ‘cause we start crying. I’ve been crying for two months,” she said during a May episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! “It’s fine. I want them to be happy, go where they want to go, and do what they want to do.”
While Lopez will “absolutely” be helping her twins move into their new respective colleges, she thinks they might not want to be on campus for too long.
“We’re going to pack up their rooms here, and they’re going to take all of the things that they want to take to their dorm. And then they’re gonna realize that their dorms are too small and they’re gonna miss home, I hope, and want to come back real soon,” she admitted. “That’s my plan.”
“I remember being that age and thinking I couldn’t wait to get out in the world and do my thing. I really wanted to get out,” she continued. “All year, people have been asking me, ‘Oh, they’re going away to college, is it going to be terrible?’ No, it’s going to be great. I want them to go out there. I want them to do what they want to do. They have big dreams. They have things they want to do. It’s going to be great.”
One month later, Lopez gushed that she’s “so proud” of her twins for setting “goals for themselves.”
“They all got into all five colleges that they applied to. Each one got a scholarship to a school,” Lopez said during an interview with Extra in June. “And I just felt like they worked so hard. I watched how hard they worked — from the time that they were like, you know, when school gets serious in the fifth grade — they just worked hard, worked hard.”
Lopez explained that her twins have ADHD so they “learn differently and there were struggles at times.”
“I’m just so proud of them because they did what they said they were going to do. They are good people. They are loving, good-hearted people,” she continued. “And they always said that. I would say to them, ‘What do I say?’ They say, ‘Doesn’t matter if we get good grades so long as we are good people.’ I was like, ‘That is right.’ And they still sometimes will quote that back to me. So I’m very, very proud of both of them.”
