Queensland police have charged a man for allegedly 3D-printing guns after discovering guns and manufacturing plans in a home south-west of Brisbane.
Video from a police raid shows multiple plastic gun parts, springs and barrels, and three industrial 3D printers allegedly used to manufacture the weapons at a property in the Logan suburb of Greenbank.
Police said they found two working 3D-printed FGC9’s with suppressors and high-capacity magazines in addition to the loose printed parts.
They charged a 56-year-old man with possessing a machine gun and a handgun, manufacturing a firearm, and possessing blueprints and instructions to make the weapons.
The man is expected to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 20.
Detective Inspector Brad Phelps said 3D-printed weapons pose a growing risk in Queensland.
“The increasing accessibility of 3D-printed firearms is a concern, and we will continue targeting those involved through proactive, intelligence-led policing operations,” he said.
In an unrelated case earlier this year two Brisbane men were arrested on the Gold Coast with a bag containing 34 3D-printed handguns and 800 rounds of ammunition.
