A man allegedly armed with two knives has been Tasered after he and another man tried to run from police on a busy Sydney street.
The 43-year-old man has been taken to hospital for assessment under police guard.
Police were called to a shopping centre on Belmore Street, Burwood, about 4.15pm on Monday following reports of “suspicious activity”, NSW Police said in a statement.
Two men allegedly ran from the scene when officers tried to speak to them, but were quickly chased down.
One of the men was Tasered. Footage of the incident appears to show him fall to the ground, before sitting up, seemingly holding two knives, then being Tasered and pinned to the ground by officers after they yell for him to drop the knives.
Another man, 32, was arrested and taken to Burwood police station, where inquiries continue.
