Markets 
New night markets will be held every few months in the heart of Brisbane, while the CBD’s existing weekly daytime event is also set to be expanded.
The Brisbane City Markets, held every Wednesday on Reddacliff Place at the end of Queen Street Mall, will increase from 60 stalls, mainly selling gourmet food and drinks, to 80 stalls over the next year.
Cooking demonstrations, cultural flavour months, guided tours and public play areas with games will also be introduced by Brisbane City Council.
And from September 26, Friday night markets will be held at the same location. At least two night markets are planned for 2026, with four booked in for next year.
The changes come amid plans for several major developments along Queen Street Mall, including overhauls of the Wintergarden building and Uptown.
“This expansion is part of the biggest transformation of our CBD in decades,” Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said in a statement.
“We’re making Brisbane City Markets bigger and better, with more vendors, Friday night markets, and new family-friendly experiences.”
Goodwill Projects operates the city markets and will continue to do so until at least 2029.
