WA Police have charged two men after seizing more than 80 kilograms of illegal drugs following a traffic stop earlier this year in the state’s South West region.
Detectives from the Drug and Firearm squad allege a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were involved in the supply and exchange of illicit drugs after police conducted a traffic stop on Forrest Highway back in January of this year.
Police stopped and searched a silver Mazda 3 sedan driven by the 26-year-old, where they allegedly found a package containing about one kilogram of cocaine.
Police allege the driver collected the package an hour earlier from a park in Piara Waters, where it was deposited by the 20-year-old.
Following inquiries, the 20-year-old man was tracked by police and apprehended in Balcatta, where a search located around 3 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at a residence on Cabramatta Street in Bayswater and seized more than 50 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 20 kilograms of cocaine and two kilograms of heroin.
A second search warrant was executed at a residence on Laurent Way in Dalyellup, where detectives allegedly located more cocaine, meth, and unlawfully possessed prescription drugs.
In total, police seized 57 kilograms of methamphetamine, 23 kilograms of cocaine and 2.5 kilograms of heroin.
On Wednesday, police announced the 20-year-old man, who is from Victoria, has been charged with three counts of possessing a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine with intent to sell or supply to another, and one count of possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply regarding the heroin found.
He has also been charged with one count of possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply, while also facing a charge of supplying a prohibited drug over the seized cocaine.
The 26-year-old driver from Dalyellup has been charged with one count of possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply and one count of possessing a prohibited drug in reference to the cocaine discovery.
He is also facing one count of possessing a prohibited drug for the methylamphetamine discovery and one count of unlawfully possessing a controlled or prescription drug.
