Bluey, Bingo and a small group of their best friends have gathered to celebrate 500,000 visitors to Brisbane attraction Bluey’s World, and an extension of the tourism drawcard until February 2028.

In the shade of the venue’s artificial poinciana tree, BBC Studios head of brands and licensing ANZ Sharon Wilson said the themed experience had exceeded expectations.

Brisbane Deputy Lord Mayor Fiona Cunningham, BBC Studios’ Sharon Wilson and Tourism Minister Andrew Powell MP celebrate 500,000 visitors to Bluey’s World.Nick Dent

“To welcome more than half a million people through in such a short time [is] a testament to the love that people have for these special characters and the stories that originated right here in Brisbane,” she said.

Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said Bluey’s World visitors had injected more than $156 million into the local economy since it opened in November 2024.

“People are flooding here from across Australia and around the world because Bluey is in Brisbane,” Powell said.

“There’s not been a better investment of your taxpayers’ dollarbucks than in Bluey’s World.”

The extension secured Bluey’s World exclusively to Brisbane through the state government’s Destination 2045 Mega and Strategic Events Fund.

The announcement comes a day after the Queensland government revealed a world-exclusive concert featuring José Carreras and an all-star line-up would take place at the Gabba in December.

Located on the river at Hamilton, Bluey’s World recreates sets and experiences from the animated series created by Brisbane’s Ludo Studio and co-funded by the ABC and BBC.

Tickets cost up to $64.90 each and there are no discounts for children.

Bluey merchandising generates an estimated $2.5 billion a year for the BBC due to a licensing deal that excludes the ABC.

No new episodes of Bluey have appeared since 2023, but a Disney Bluey movie is being animated in Brisbane and is due for release in August 2027.

According to Nielsen, Bluey was the most-streamed TV program in the US in both 2024 and 2025.
