Teenager charged over alleged stabbing attack on mum, sister

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his mother to death in Bentley on Tuesday.

The boy was arrested after the 35-year-old woman was found dead at the home in Perth’s south-east, while his 12-year-old sister was found with serious injuries after fleeing to a major highway nearby to raise the alarm.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, WA Police Major Crime Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said the incident was being treated as a suspected family violence homicide.

“This incident will have a significant impact on the family, friends and loved ones of all those involved … our thoughts are with them all, particularly the 12-year-old girl,” she said.

She remains in hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries. The boy has also been charged with one count of attempted unlawfully to kill over the alleged stabbing attack on his sister.

The 16-year-old is due to face Perth Children’s Court on Wednesday.
