A 19-year-old man will face court in Geraldton on Friday, charged with murder over a fiery crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman on Tuesday.
Homicide squad detectives had been investigating the crash at White Peak on the evening of Tuesday, June 23, which involved a blue Suzuki Swift allegedly driven by the 19-year-old and a motorhome.
The vehicles were involved in a collision on North West Coastal Highway about 6.45pm, leading to the motorhome becoming engulfed in flames.
Two women and a man, all aged 29, were inside the motorhome at the time. One woman died at the scene, while the man and the other woman were rushed to Geraldton Regional Hospital for treatment.
“The 19-year-old male driver of the Suzuki Swift was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries,” a WA Police spokesperson said.
On Thursday, a police spokesperson said the homicide squad was investigating the alleged actions of the Suzuki driver in the lead-up to the crash, and were calling for any witnesses.
On Friday, police revealed the 19-year-old, from Drummond Cove, to the south-west of White Peak, had been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempt to unlawfully kill.
He was scheduled to appear before Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday via a hospital bedside hearing.
