People get nose jobs to boost their confidence, but one beauty influencer admits she spent years trying to hide hers.
Jamie Stone underwent a $17,000 rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills when she was 25. But instead of giving her the profile she wanted, the procedure left her nose flat, crooked, and upturned — along with severe breathing issues that lasted a decade.
Desperate to fix the botched job 10 years later, Stone flew to Istanbul, Turkey, to undergo revision surgery. She documented her journey on TikTok and Instagram, sharing updates on her recovery, aftercare routine, and medications.
Her entire medical journey and procedure steps were documented for her followers to “learn from her mistakes.”
“I was unhappy almost immediately with compromised airways and a nose that was very flat,” Stone revealed on Instagram. “If you look at my page, you’ll see I exclusively took pictures and filmed from my right side as it was at least not as horrible as my left. I hated going to events where there would be photographers or getting caught off guard in a friend’s video or pic.”
Stone said she booked her initial procedure as soon as she could afford it, but soon regretted rushing into it. Beyond the aesthetic flaws, her nose began leaking constantly.
Looking back, she wishes she had been more patient when choosing a surgeon. When she initially sought revision surgery in the United States, doctors quoted her around $30,000. After extensive research and consultations, she decided to look abroad.
“After endless consults and deliberation, I decided to take the plunge and go to Istanbul. I had heard time and time again that they were absolute experts at noses, and after looking at countless Instagram pages and reviews, I felt confident,” she explained to her followers.
Stone selected Dr. Selim Turan for the complex procedure. She arrived at her consultation with a detailed document outlining her goals and advised her followers to be equally thorough before undergoing cosmetic surgery.
An English translator assisted her through the paperwork and bloodwork, while nurses provided instructions regarding her medications and post-op care.
The procedure lasted four hours and included a turbinate reduction to clear swollen tissue leftover from her first surgery, which had been severely restricting her breathing.
Six days after surgery, Stone had her cast removed. While relieving, she admitted her initial reaction to her new face was mixed.
“At first, I really did not like my nose, but the more I look at it, the more I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s cute. I can see the vision,’” she said, noting that seeing a different reflection was a total shock.
Stone noted that adjusting to such a drastic change takes time, adding that her surgeon promised to perform a touch-up procedure free of charge if she remained unsatisfied.
Many of Stone’s followers related to the jarring post-surgery period.
“I just tried not to look in the mirror for the first few months. It sparks a minor identity crisis while swelling subsides,” one commenter wrote.
However, not all feedback was positive, as some social media users are skeptical over medical tourism in Turkey.
“How much did they pay you to make this video?” one user questioned.
“Turkish surgeons should never be trusted,” another added. “Most patients coming for revisions in Europe have been botched by Turkish surgeons.”
